About Imam An-NAWAWI:
Imam An-NAWAWI was born in 631 AH in Nawa, near Damascus, and became a prominent figure in Islamic scholarship. Despite not hailing from a notable scholarly family, his father’s piety deeply influenced him. From a young age, NAWAWI was devoted to his studies, memorizing the Qur’an early in life, which laid the groundwork for his lifelong dedication to Islamic knowledge. At 18, he moved to Damascus, a center of Islamic learning, to study under esteemed scholars, where his relentless pursuit of knowledge in Hadith and Fiqh cultivated his deep understanding of Islamic teachings. This foundation propelled him into a career that began at 24 when he started teaching at Ashrafiyah school, gaining respect for his piety and strict adherence to the Qur’an and Sunnah.
Imam An-NAWAWI’s contributions to Islamic thought are immense, with his works like “Riyadh As-Salihin” and his commentary on Sahih Muslim being vital to Islamic jurisprudence. His teachings emphasized the Manhajus Sunnah and the right Aqidah, advocating for a return to the practices of the Salafus Salih.
